My boys walk through the door, toss their backpacks on the mudroom bench, and head straight for the snack cupboard. Maybe this sounds familiar to you. I keep a fair number of prepackaged snacks in stock, but these fruit cups are a great homemade tummy-filler. They are simple to make, and the recipe can be easily adjusted to fit different tastes. October – Respect Life Month

October – Respect Life Month

By Karen Whiting October is Respect Life month for the church and a time to think about how special God made everyone. Find out what happened the day of your birth and how your family celebrated your first day home. At dinner chat about how each person in your family is unique and has different talents and interests. Fall Fun

Fall Fun

By  Karen Whiting             Leaves turn bright colors, garden patches sprout bright orange pumpkins, and apple trees are ripe for picking. It’s autumn! Make the most of the season. Enjoy the leaves. Gather a bunch and decorate your dinner table with the bright colors. Press a few to save in a scrapbook. Dry them to preserve the color. This can be done by placing separate leaves between pages of a phone book or other large, heavy book and leaving them there for about ten days. Or, with adult help, dip leaves in melted paraffin wax. Rake leaves (jump in a few piles too). Enlist your friends or family to help an older neighbor or single mom rake leaves. Read Psalm 96:12 and talk about how it looks like the trees are dressed in beauty and singing to...
