The Lost Sheep

Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!

Luke 15: 6b

Have you ever been lost or separated from your parents? When kids are separated from their parents they go through some scary moments. Daniel, a boy from New Jersey, recently shared his story about a time when he lost his parents.

“One time my mom and dad and older sister went to a Casting Crowns concert. There were many people there and I was mixed in with the people as they walked inside the concert hall. I got scared and called for my mom and dad but I couldn’t find them.  A  policeman found me and told me my parents were looking for me and that they were scared. When he took me to the place where my mom and dad were, I just ran when I saw them. I was glad to see them and they were glad to see me too.”

Getting separated from your parents would be frightening. Yet, if it happened, your family would search until they found you. The Bible tells us a similar story about a lost sheep. A shepherd had 100 sheep until one day, he lost one. Instead of forgetting about that sheep and concentrating on the 99, he decided to look for that one sheep. Why?  Because the one lost sheep was as important as the other 99. When he found that sheep, he returned to his village and threw a feast to celebrate with his friends.

The Bible says that Jesus does the same. Jesus our shepherd loves us so much that when one gets lost, He looks until He finds us. When He finds us and rescues us from sin, heaven sings with great joy because of our rescue.

Do you know the good shepherd?
