Let’s Make Salt Crystals!

Supplies:

1.       A Pot of Water

2.       2 Cups of Salt

3.       Clear Glass Jar

4.       A Piece of String

5.       A Paper Towel

First, fill a pot half-way with water. Ask your parent or guardian to help you boil the water.

Second, add two cups of salt to the boiling water and stir until all of the salt has dissolved.

Third, allow the liquid to cool down then pour it into a clear glass jar.

Fourth, hang a piece of string over the side of the jar so half of it is inside the liquid.

Finally, cover the jar with a paper towel.

After a few days, you will be able to see salt crystals forming on the string.

*If you don’t have salt, sugar will work, but it requires more time to develop crystals.
