He’s Got a Plan (Even if YOU Don’t)

By Wendy Lanier

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Being a kid is a lot more complicated than it used to be. Some of it is fun and some of it isn’t, but either way you probably stay pretty busy. Maybe you don’t think any of the things you do are all that important. You just think of it as stuff to do until you start your real work someday.

King David spent his early years as a shepherd. It wasn’t a very glamorous job, and his brothers made fun of him for doing it. But the truth was that God was using that time to teach David the things he would need to know for his job as king of Israel. The experiences David had were exactly what he needed. David had no idea he would one day be king. He just took the job he had and made the most of it.

God has plans for you, too. Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, God is using your situation to teach you the things you’ll need for your adult life. Make the most of your time. Ask God to show you what you need to learn from the situations you face each day. And remember: God’s got a plan for you. You’re going places!
