Fear-Not: Just Being Afraid

Fear-Not: Just Being Afraid

“Fearing The LORD is the start [ beginning] of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”. Proverbs 9:10

🙌🏾Why did Rahab betray her city of Jericho to the invading Israelites (Joshua 2)?

Perhaps, you have read or heard of GOD giving an unusual strategy to Joshua in order to take over a well-protected, locked city! Read this exciting story in your Bible, then answer the question.

GOD chose Rahab, a very special woman in Jericho to be an important part His plan for that take over.

Without cellphones, tv’s, modern communication or transportation, GOD, His great power, protection, provision and love for His people was  heard of and made known!  She told the two spies: “I know that the LORD has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. …When we heard of it [Israel’s victories], our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”

Because the people of Jericho stood against God, their fear of the Lord was just ‘plain’ fear-sacred of, running away from. There’s another kind of fear that is holy, healthy and commanded by GOD. When Rahab changed to being on GOD’s side, she chose this kind of fear! She desired to worship the one true God. 🙌🏾❤️🙏🏾Her fear turned to awe, reverence, and delight.

Prayer:

Dear GOD,

You alone are to be feared, honored, and worshipped! Thank You for helping us understand Who You are! We want to respect, love, obey and please YOU! Father, we do appreciate Your Word and real people who are examples for us to follow. Thank You!
