troubled waters and peaceful streams. Structurally engineered plans make
bridges safe and beautiful, too!
The New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia is the highest bridge at 876 feet above the
river. (This is a fabulous place to go white water rafting!)
The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, is one of the most famous bridges in the
whole world!
Of the four types of bridges (beam, arch, truss, and
suspension), an architect will decide which one is right for the span across the
