“Let us not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
Devotion Time!
Have you ever built a puzzle with your friends or family? Imagine trying to finish it all by yourself, it’s very hard! But when everyone helps, the picture comes together beautifully.
That’s just like how God wants His children to work together in His big family—the Church.
A long time ago, Jesus prayed something very special. He said:
“Father, I pray that all of them may be one, just like You and I are one.” John 17:21 (paraphrased)
Jesus wants all His followers to work together as one team, just like He works closely with His Father in heaven.
“Have you ever had a group project where one person didn’t help?”
“How did that feel?”
“Now, think about what it’s like when everyone shares their work.”
“That’s what God wants for His Church and in every group work we do.”
What Happens When We Don’t Work Together?
Sometimes, people in school, church, or at home forget to work as a team. Some think:
- “I want to be the best and receive all the praise!”
- “I don’t like how they do things!”
- “I was hurt before; they were mean to me.”
- “They prefer different things at the same time”.
But when we think only about ourselves, we miss out on the big things God wants to do through us together!
What Should We Do Instead?
The Bible says in Romans 12:3:
“Do not think that you are better than you really are. Instead, think about yourself carefully.”
That means we should:
- Be humble, not proud.
- Say “Let’s help each other!” instead of “Look at me!”
- Remember it’s about God’s Kingdom, not about being famous.
Be Like Jesus: Put Others First
Another verse says:
“Don’t do things just to make yourself look good. Be humble. Care about others more than just yourself.” Philippians 2:3-4 (paraphrased)
When we put others first:
- We share our toys.
- We help a friend.
- We say kind words.
- We listen attentively when others speak
- We don’t always need to be the leader.
That’s called selflessness, and it makes working together strong, and Jesus is Happy!
What If People Don’t Want to Work Together?
Sometimes, you might want to work as a team, but others don’t. That can feel sad. But here’s what you can do:
- Pray to Jesus and ask for help.
- Be patient and kind.
- Don’t stop doing what’s right, even if others don’t join.
- Keep your heart free from anger or being upset.
- Trust that God will send you the right friends to work with.
Remember, Jesus sees your heart, and He’s always proud when you choose love and unity.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear Jesus, thank You for teaching me to work with others. Help me to be kind, humble, and ready to help, just like You. If others don’t want to work together, help me stay patient and full of love. I want to be part of building Your Kingdom. Amen!
Let’s Do It! (Activity Time)
💡 Draw a big heart and inside it write (or draw) the names of people you can be kind to or work with this week, at school, church, or home. Ask Jesus to help you love and team up with them for good!
