What is a Hero?
By Kenneth Winters
There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. 1 Cor. 12:6 (NIV)
Hero. Hero is a word often misunderstood. What do you think of when I say the word hero? Most people will say a super hero: Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern. Well I guess you could say that, but there’s more to it. A hero doesn’t have to have powers or a cape. Babe Ruth was a hero, and he didn’t have powers. Even so, you don’t have to be good at sports. You could be someone’s hero just by being kind to them. For example, you could open the door for your sister or unload the dishwasher without being asked.
Lots of people are good at their own thing: art, writing, and maybe even designing. If you use the gifts that God gave you to inspire others, you could be a hero to someone. Anyone can be a hero! Will you give it a try?
Dear God, Help me to be a hero by using the gifts you gave me.

What a good writer you are Kenneth. Just want to say that I agree and you have already been my “hero” lots of time. I’m glad you use the gifts God has given you. Love you – Can’t wait to be with you all again soon.
Thank you for this devotion. You’re right to remind us that heroes come in many forms and don’t always wear capes 🙂
