The Little Children and Jesus

The Little Children and Jesus

Let the little children come to me. Luke 18:16.

Have you ever made a public confession about your belief in Jesus and wanting Him in your life as The One Who guides you? Is there a christening, baby dedication, or baptism certificate on the devices, wall, mantle or table in your home? Perhaps a video, book, photo or some remembrance of that special occasion is a part of your family’s treasures. That time shows how unique and special you are to GOD, His Son JESUS, your family, and all who believe in and follow GOD!

The Little Children and Jesus

People were bringing little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them [the disciples]. When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16 NIV)

Though JESUS was boldly and busily on the move loving, healing, preaching, praying, and teaching during His earthly ministry, He readily received children! Jesus was also interested in and ready to touch, speak a blessing over infants  and children! Read this with me:

He [Jesus], took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them (Mark 10:16).

The disciples fussed about people bringing their children to JESUS! Perhaps they felt The LORD was much too busy with more urgent “issues”! Maybe they became angry, impatient and uncaring-thinking what can these little children do? They don’t matter! They are not important! Yet, Jesus greatly loved and cared about them. He was angry at the behavior of His followers and turned this moment into a classroom of learning.

Jesus explains that the children should be allowed to come to Him; no one should prevent or hinder them from His presence, touch, and His love. He gives more wisdom about the infants, children saying the very Kingdom of GOD is made up of those who are trusting, believing, depending on the care of others just as these young children were.

After teaching how very special and precious a gift children are, He demonstrated. JESUS, The Son of God, Savior of the world, Healer, Miracle Worker pauses. He takes the babies and small children in the arms, draws them close, and blesses them. He blesses with His tenderness, touch, telling them how very much He values them! He loves them! They have a place in His heart, schedule, and HIS Kingdom!

If you better understand how Jesus sees and feels about you, talk with your parents, guardians, family, Sunday school teacher. Let them know you want to know JESUS, ask Him to touch, hold, bless you just as the Bible says He did for others.  He is ready and will gladly touch and bless you!

Dear Lord-thank You for caring for all people everywhere! Yes, all ages; sizes; languages. This is why You were born and came to earth! You show us how to bring others close to You, even the youngest so they might be blessed by Your Words and Your Presence!  Help us to follow Your example to love, take care of, invite, and include all people into Your Family.
