Rock-ribbed Soldiers

By Lois B. Handy

Be strong and courageous, and do the work.

1 Chronicles 28:20

Ta ta tata ta, ta ta tata ta…the buglers play “Reverie” to celebrate our U. S. Armed Forces. Since 1949, during the third week in May, everyone can express gratitude to our military soldiers because they defend our freedoms and liberty. They have prepared and trained to be ever ready for each challenge. With patriotism, we are thankful our borders are secure for us to live in a peaceful nation.

Like our Armed Forces, we can be rock-ribbed soldiers for God. Joining side by side, we must do our basic training by preparing a foundation of scripture in our hearts—reading the Bible and memorizing verses. Then we can boldly advance Jesus Christ and His written Word, the Bible.

“Be strong and courageous, and do the work.” Take time this week, grab your Bible, and memorize this verse to meet challenges in life. March out in truth and righteousness to advance God’s kingdom. In your prayer times, whisper, speak, and sing to the Almighty God who created us. Be loyal to God—sticking to Him like a close friend—and pray for everyone to live the same.

Prayer: Dear God, please help me to be a loyal child of yours. I pray for you to help me be someone others will see as an example of the way you want your children to live here on earth.
