Polar Bears and the Light of the SON
Polar Bears
Polar bears are big animals that live in the Arctic. That is the coldest place at the top of the world.
What They Eat
Polar bears are carnivores. That means they eat meat. Their favorite food is seals. A polar bear can smell a seal from 20 miles away!
How They Travel
Polar bears usually travel alone. They can walk many miles each day to find food. Their big feet help them walk on ice and swim in the ocean.
Leaving Messages
Polar bears can leave a smell from the bottom of their feet. That helps other polar bears know they were there.
Sleeping in Winter
Only mommy polar bears sleep all winter. That is called hibernating.
Baby Bears
Polar bear moms usually have two baby cubs. The cubs stay with their mom for about 3 years.
Staying Warm
Polar bears have black skin under their fur. The black skin helps soak up the sun’s heat. They also have fat called blubber to stay warm. Their fur looks white, but it is really clear. It reflects the sunlight. That is what makes it look white to us.
Shining God’s Light
The polar bear’s fur reflects the sunlight. We can reflect God’s light too.
The Bible says in Matthew 5:14:
“You are the light of the world.”
That means we should show God’s love to others.
What about you?
When people see you, do they see God’s love shining through you? Are you reflecting the SON?
