We know of cattle
in the stall.
But did more creatures
come to call
on heaven’s gift
so newly born
in manger’s loft
that Holy morn?
Did stray dogs bark
or cats glide by
as angel’s glow
lit up the sky?
Its safe inside
as Jesus lay
where angels hum
on Christmas day;
and hope renewed
for all who come
as home is shared
with everyone.
