Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
Though there have been some cooler temps, Spring is really here! Spring has already sprung, even if we need a jacket, friends.
GOD has already given us His “new” life through JESUS CHRIST and a “new” season! Yes, even if and when we miss His Word and mess up, we are still His NEW creation!
Time for Spring Cleaning!
Have you and your family tackled some Spring Cleaning yet?
- Bedrooms?
- Closets?
- Garages?
- Lawns?
- Gutters?
Well, it’s coming, I am sure!
In the middle of it—or waiting for it—GOD is our HELP to do the humongous cleaning up of the inside: our thoughts, mouths, and desires. Things get out of order deep in our hearts and minds from time to time.
“Who can say, ‘I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin‘?” (Proverbs 20:9)
Cleaning Our Hearts for Easter
We cleaned EVERYTHING during Spring vacation! We were prepping and cleaning our hearts EVERY day for Holy Week and EASTER celebrations, programs, and pageants. Reading our Bibles daily as we journeyed with JESUS to His cross!
We Reflected On:
His triumphant ride into Jerusalem amid HIS worshippers shouting “HOSANNA! HOSANNA! Blessed is HE Who comes in the Name of The LORD!“
Jesus cleansing HIS House—the Temple of GOD! Think of your absolutely cleaned room—your body!
Preparing each day, asking GOD for our cleaning as we were with Him when Mary poured expensive, precious oil on JESUS.
He was cleansing us as He served and washed His disciples’ feet—YES, even Judas’ betraying feet.
We heard His last Words of love, forgiveness, sacrifice, and commitment as HE endured unimaginable agony and torture!
We watched Him die for our sins and our cleansing.
Silent Saturday gave us another chance to be quiet and sorrowful before our GOD with a clean heart.
Then we rose with JESUS early Sunday morning to celebrate, rejoicing that our Savior lives!
Keeping Our Hearts Clean
Our souls, spirits, minds, and hearts were spick and span! Right?
Like the room you organized, wiped, and swept ’til your shoes were neatly arranged! Beds were all made with matching sheets, comforters, and pillows! Candy wrappers too far under the bed… got ’em!
Then bit by bit, we left 1 sock here, and the other made the shot to the hamper! SCORED that winning shot! Those jackets we needed because it’s cool in the mornings all collapsed on the unmade bed.
Our minds and hearts left without daily “clean-ups” quickly get stinky, unorganized, messy, and uncomfortable!
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:22)
🙏🏾 Read and pray Psalm 51 each day
Just like your room needs cleaning every day, so does your heart! Ask God to help you keep it clean, fresh, and ready for Him.
Think About It:
- What gets messy in your room when you don’t clean it every day?
- What gets messy in your heart when you don’t talk to God every day?
- How can reading the Bible help keep your heart “spick and span“?
