God’s Love Smiles On Us
As we travel around our schools, churches, and neighborhoods, a smile is always a welcomed treasure! It might be big and bright, teeny and shy, quick, wide, or almost hidden—but we see it! The eyes smile, too!
We don’t have to know anything about the person who shares that smile. If they used words, we might not even understand their language. But that’s okay—because a smile is a language everyone understands! Its message is clear, happy, and full of love. A smile says kindness, care, joy, and goodwill—all without a single word.
God told His servant, a priest, to share His smile with His people in a very special blessing.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24–26)
When God’s face shines on us, it means He’s smiling! His smile shows us His love and fills our hearts with peace and joy. The Bible says:
Let Your face smile on us, Lord (Psalm 4:6).
May God be merciful and bless us. May His face smile with favor on us (Psalm 67:1).
Truth springs up from the earth, and righteousness smiles down from heaven (Psalm 85:11).
When the king smiles, there is life (Proverbs 16:15).
Even scientists say smiling helps us feel better! It lifts our mood and keeps us healthy—and it takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown.
Who or what makes a smile burst across your face? Maybe it’s the warmth of God’s love—or someone else’s smile shining back at you!
