God’s Creation—Look at the Birds

God’s Creation—Look at the Birds

“Look at the birds of the air: … your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”- Matthew 6: 26 ESV.

Brrr! Too cold to go outside. It’s winter and not much to watch outside. But look! See the birds? No matter how cold it is, they get up every morning and get to work looking for things to eat. They hop around in the freezing weather, chasing each other for food. Something catches a bird’s eye and off he goes to see what he can find.

How do they survive? They have tiny birdbrains and don’t go to school to learn anything. They aren’t strong or clever. They don’t have refrigerators or cabinets with food. They don’t have blankets, or coats or boots. How do they exist?

What if you saw a bird driving a little car around your yard looking for food? What store could he find to shop at? How would he pay for food or warm clothes? He can’t.

God watches over the birds. He has hidden food for them to find. He keeps them warm with downy feathers. God sends kids to throw breadcrumbs to them, and angels to scatter seeds blown in the wind.

Birds remind us that God faithfully and carefully cares for His creatures. Birds are special to God, but they are not created in God’s image like people are. God made people to be over all the other creatures. People, you, are God’s most precious, special creation. So, aren’t you more important than the birds? Of course you are!

When you see God helping the birds, remember, He loves you more.
