Do everything you’re told to do. Not some, all.

SPLAT. SPLATTER. SPLOOOSH.

That’s the sound my kitchen made the day I decided a recipe was too simple to actually READ. I mean — mix, pour, bake. Easy-peazy, right? Wrong. Very, very wrong.

What came out of that oven looked more like a science experiment gone sideways than anything you’d want to eat. Why? Because I skipped Step 3. And Step 5. And — oops — the part about preheating the oven.

Have you ever been SO sure you knew what you were doing that you jumped right in… and ended up with a total disaster?

Meet someone who NEVER made that mistake — Noah.

God gave Noah a massive, mile-long to-do list. Not a simple recipe. Not three easy steps. God said: build an ark out of cypress wood, coat it with pitch inside and out, make it 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high, add a roof, leave an opening one cubit high all around, put a door in the side, build three decks, gather two of every living creature — male and female — and store enough food for every single one of them.

Read it again and count each instruction. Highlight it. Circle it. Check it off!

Every. Single. Step. Mattered.

Here’s what’s amazing: Noah didn’t roll his eyes. He didn’t say, “I think I’ve got the gist of it.” He didn’t skip to the fun parts and skip the hard ones.

The Bible says Noah did EVERYTHING just as God commanded him.

Not most things. Not the easy things. Everything.

God’s instructions were specific because the mission was critical — not just for Noah and his family, but for every creature that would fill the earth after the flood. One skipped step could have meant disaster.

Here’s the big picture for us: when God gives us directions — through His Word, through wise parents, through trusted teachers — those directions aren’t suggestions. They’re the blueprint for something beautiful He’s building in us.

Following directions means the difference between disaster and delight!

This summer, you’re probably working on something — a project, a recipe, a sport, a skill, maybe even a relationship with God. Whatever it is, be a Noah about it.

Before you begin:
☐ Read ALL the instructions first.
☐ Gather everything you need.
☐ Take it one step at a time.
☐ Don’t skip the hard parts!

Ask God to help you do everything He’s asked of you — not just the comfortable stuff, but all of it.
