Carbonated Christians

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20 NIV)

 

I don’t know why my friend did it, but Cary reached across my desk and poked a hole into my can of soda. The carbonated soda shot into the air and all over me. How could so much soda spray out of one little can?  

Christians are like that can of soda. Serious power in a small package. Of course we’re bigger than a can of soda, but compared to God, we’re mini-sized. But his Spirit isn’t.

When we ask Jesus to be our Savior, God sends His Spirit to live inside us. That’s the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. And He’ll give us that power to do things we never thought we could, like forgive people who hurt us or poke holes in our soda cans during class.

The next time you sip a soda and feel those bubbles of carbonated power, think about God’s Spirit at work in your heart. What can you trust Him to do in you today?
