Bye, Birdies

Bye, Birdies

Mrs. Noah’s Diary

He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him. Genesis 8:12 (NIV)

by Bonnie Beardsley

Dear Diary,

Over a month has passed since I last wrote so I’ll catch you up on what has happened. Noah opened the hatch in the roof and released a raven to find dry land. The bird just kept flying in circles.

Next, he released a dove to see if there was dry ground, but the dove came back. Noah brought it back in the ark.

A week later he sent the dove out again. It stayed out longer than before and brought back an olive leaf in its mouth.

After another week Noah let the dove go again, but this time it didn’t come back. It’s the sign we waited for … the bird found dry land.
