A Harvest Moon
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:36 Hey Kids: What is your vision for the future? Not every Christian is called to a foreign mission field. We need teachers, doctors, politicians, lawyers, auto mechanics, plumbers, computer techs and more who know how to use their jobs as effective mission fields. Study about Daniel this week. He was just a teen when he was taken to Babylon, but he learned all he could without compromising his faith. Though he faced trials, he became one of the most influential men in the kingdom until his death as a very old man. How can you prepare now for the vision God is giving you? How can you influence the world from your mission field? Gail Cartee is a writer and...

By Karen H Whiting October 26 is Make A Difference Day. This is a great opportunity to make good choices. Consider what to be when you grow up that can make a difference. Think of ways you can make your home, community, and world a better place. Jesus made a difference. He was born in poverty, in a time with no cars or electricity. Celebrate life all month with some of these activities: Make cards for people in a nursing home and deliver them in person. Donate baby items to a woman’s shelter or birthright center. Talk a hike and talk about living creatures you see. Praise God for all He made. Have parents and grandparents share stories...

By Karen Whiting Leaves turn bright colors, garden patches sprout bright orange pumpkins, and apple trees are ripe for picking. It’s autumn! Make the most of the season. Enjoy the leaves. Gather a bunch and decorate your dinner table with the bright colors. Press a few to save in a scrapbook. Dry them to preserve the color. This can be done by placing separate leaves between pages of a phone book or other large, heavy book and leaving them there for about ten days. Or, with adult help, dip leaves in melted paraffin wax. Rake leaves (jump in a few piles too). Enlist your friends or family to help an older neighbor or single mom rake leaves. Read Psalm 96:12 and talk about how it looks like the trees are dressed in beauty and singing to...

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:8 Hey Kids: Have your ever wondered where your kite or balloon went after its escape? Here’s an idea. Get together with a group of friends and ask permission from your church to use the church’s address for this experiment. (Your parents may not want you to divulge your home address). Tie a note with a Bible verse or invitation to a kite or balloon. Be sure to include the address of your church. When the replies come in, use a map to find the distance your kite or balloon traveled. What direction did your kite or balloon travel? How long did it take to travel the...
