God made people in His image. He gave Adam a special job: to care for His creation (Genesis 2:16–17).
God told Adam, “You may eat fruit from any tree in the garden. But do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you will die.”
Adam was created last, and God gave him the job of taking care of the things He had made. God made Eve from Adam’s rib and gave Adam a helper and friend.
God put Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden called Eden. The garden had trees that grew fruit, animals, birds, and many other things God had created.
In the Garden of Eden, there was a tree called the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit from that tree.
Satan used a serpent to trick Eve. Eve took fruit from the forbidden tree and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it too.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Sin came into the world, and their friendship with God was broken. Sin brought death into the world. People needed a Savior to bring them back to God.
